Empowering Girls and Young Women in Ghana

Our Story: The Inspiration Behind LEMPs Foundation

LEMPs Foundation was born from a deep, personal conviction to challenge the status quo and champion the rights of girls and young women in underserved communities. Our journey began with three powerful inspirations that continue to shape everything we do:

1. Challenging the Perception of the Female Child
In many African societies, girls are often expected to remain silent—even in the face of injustice. When they speak up, they are labeled as disrespectful. This harmful norm sparked a fire in Sandrine Kpedzi—the founder of the Foundation, to advocate for girls’ voices to be heard and respected. Our work directly aligns with SDG 5 – Gender Equality, fighting for a future where every girl can rise without fear or restraint.

2. Fighting for the Right to Education
While at Oyoko Methodist Senior High (OMESS), Sandrine read Witches of Honour, a book that changed everything for her. The book exposed the stigma faced by academically gifted girls, often branded as “witches”, and made her realize how deeply rooted these educational and cultural barriers were. In 2019, she launched Ladies of Honour, a student group at OMESS dedicated to promoting girls’ education. That spark grew into what is now known as the LEMPs Foundation.

3. Promoting Financial Independence for Women
True empowerment includes economic freedom. We believe that every woman deserves the ability to support herself. By teaching entrepreneurship and supporting small businesses, we help girls and women become financially independent and confident in shaping their futures.

Transforming Lives Through Education, Health, and Economic Empowerment

LEMPs Foundation is committed to breaking barriers to empower girls in Ghana through quality education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship training.
